LEARN PHOTOGRAPHY @ YOUR DINING TABLE

guys let me tell u abt a thing or two abt photography.its actually ridiculously simple. so simple that if u know how many idlis u need for breakfast then u already know abt photography. doesn’t make sense eh? wait and see

lets suppose u feel u need 10 idlis ok? lets assume u’d take 20 minutes for these idlis. ( just like u, yr camera needs ‘a’ aperture open for “t” seconds to make an exposure).

now if u need to finish yr breakfast faster than that what do u do?. we stretch our little mouths to accomodate maximum possible. infact the camera lens aperture does exactly this, it opens up a bit more to accomodate more light at a given time t. ( u reduce the shutter speed u need to increase the aperture)

ok lets assume u have some boils in your mouth and it can’t be stretched. what to do we do?
we take a little while longer than normal i.e. say 30 minutes to take in all the 10 idlis.
well the camera shutter actually does the same job. when the light is low it requires more time to register, it says” cool no hurry” onnum avasaram illai.

just as we guys have mouths of different sizes and have our own comfort levels in the speed we eat, the cameras have a range of apertures and range of shutter speeds.

now i guess someone might ask “what if i need to eat more than my friend ?”.well our appetites and digestion levels corresponds to the ISO/ASA of yr film loaded in the camera.

Ah! what if idly happens to be my favourite dish and my tummy opens up just a bit more than normal to take in a few more idlis? cool buddies- even the exposure in photography is just a basic guideline. great shots are often results of technically speaking”errors in exposure”
So dabble and have fun!
