This post shall not be named.. for now atleast

I am one of those confused desis. Confused about the existence of God.
Ever since my adolescent years, the image of God as omnipotent, big, generous giver, the one who answers all our prayers and the sole decider of right and wrong has been hard for me to digest.

This specifically crops up whenever i see 10 year-old kids with cancer. When i see innocent people put to innumerable hardships. When the rights of the right speaking people goes for a six and the wrong doers go around merrily. This “poorva janma karma” theory i don’t buy. And alas, that’s the only concept i’ve heard of as an explanation. Pathetic.

If God is what he or she is attributed to be, why should he wait till someone prays and comes down on his legs begging? Is that love for one’s subjects? Does a mother ever wait till her child begs for food?

What can i say about the Rishis and sages in our mythology who meditate for ages and then some minor misdeed from some innocent and they would go full blast to curse them. Phew! so much for meditations. So much for philosophy.

But i think God exists not as a separate entity but Godliness manifests in mother nature’s lap, in flowers, new born babies, in every mother, in every act of pure love by anyone, in every good doctor, in a piece of art. Yes, in a piece of art - every good book, every good music, and in every nice soul who likes to help others and who strives to live peacefully. There sure is some magic to this universe. Hard to explain but present nevertheless.

I guess our tamil bhakti movies and to some extent, our mythology has made more atheists than the DK folks.

Talking about works of art, just check out this tune, lyrics and song rendition in this masterpiece by our well known blogger friends.

I somewhere read about creativity with small C and big C.
Small C creativity is what bloggers are usually made up of. Some creative ways to spend time.

But in my opinion that piece by Jo, Narayanan sir is really Big C stuff. Stuff capable of setting a trend.

Now, why did i write this post? i dont know. Shall think about it.

Cheers
prabukarthik

PK, you are right. Godliness exists even if God doesn’t (for some people). BTW, your Dakshina Chitra pictures were good and before I forget, happy deepavali :-)

    Dear Karthik,
I totally agree with u. We spend lot of time analysing and contemplating on something for which there is no substantial proof. Everything we hear and read is another human’s perceptions.

All the Godly figures whom we are used tp praying like Aallaha Krishna, Rama, Ganesha, Jesus, Saibaba are just symbols of some great personality traits. They stand for patience, persevrance, sacrifice, Love and dedicated efforts for the benefit of humanity.
From my understanding, Mother Theresa can be God and any persons who go out of their way to benefit the humanity in an exemplary way are GODS.

God is in us humans, in the word ‘Good’, in Love, in Nature, in Service, in standing up for a right cause..

    with best wishes
    Suman

    hmmm….
i cant answer your questions…but i know God exists, because , that faith gives me strength, as much as i might feel denied, poor or anything else, one thought strengthens me and that is, “God made us all as equals and loves us all equally”.

Life happens in circles, what goes around, comes around, try one good deed and see for yourself, thats my philo…..

i have seen people work hard, real hard and having lost, but God compensates at some other stage in that paerson’s life , for all that hard-work.

My sis once worked very hard and didnt clear CA foundation. She was broken. But she attempted again, with little effort though, but she cleared both CA and ICWA foundation then…God exists..and he rewards every thing in its wn way….

little hardships are lesson teachers..and feelings of pain at those less blessed and all that evil is an awakening call to your conscience, so you can jump in there and do something about it..

like kamal said in “Anbe Sivam”, you are that God,when you care to make the slighest of difference

Villages portray people who have sacrificed themselves for as gods.
My belief is that all SudalaiMadan, Muniyandi, EllaiSami were people who guarded these villages and sacrificed themselves. I read this somewhere too.
Though I believe in Almighty, I also strongly beleive the concept of anbe shivam.
Belated Deepavali Wishes PK. Hope you had a great time.

  12. Swahilya Says:

    What you see is God.
    What you hear is God.
    What you smell is God.
    What you touch is God.
    What you taste is God.
    You are God.
    I am God.
    Everybody is God.
    Everything is God.
    God only Is.

  13. Narayanan Venkitu Says:

    PK,
I am with you. I think like you at times…when disaster strikes, when things that you’ve mentoned happens…when things happen to me which I thought I didn’t deserve.

Swahilya, said it beautifully in her usual style.

Thalaivar style la - Yaar Yaar Sivam pattu 100% true.

I ponder at times about GOD. IMHO everything is GOD…You’ll only have to look.!
