IISc terror attack
This is yet another tragedy. Only that this terrorism has metastasized from JK to Bangalore. How far is chennai from bangalore?
Just how safe are we in our own country from foreign attacks? We are happily starting bus transports and sending our cricket team to Pakistan.
We’re seeing it from 93 bomb blasts in Mumbai to Kandahar to the latest IISc. Our politicans hardly learn from the past mistakes. There were reports a few months back that terrorists had crossed the borders during the pakistan earthquake. We are seeing the proof of it now.
I dont want to blast at human rights activists as some people do. Its their job to crib about all that. We know power and authority corrupts and absolute power and authority corrupts absolutely. But its still the state’s job to protect us.
I think its high time the powers that be learn a lesson or two from the terrorism of Punjab and how things are brought to normal there.I have a lot to crib about Israel but their counter terrorism operations is something we need to emulate.
Some of my views in this might make others feel i am right wing. So be it. Yeah i may not be a devout Hindu but it looks like some religous fundamentalist outfits will not stop until they either kill me or forcibly change my religion or my children’s religion. And no, i dont want that to happen.
And in the midst of all this, we the majority community in this country are using blogger for all heated debates on caste. *Sigh*

Scary stuff PK. I personally don’t think you are being right winged at all, I think we all have a reason to be worried when professors at a University can get shot down for God knows what reason. As to emulating Israel, I wonder if their policies are really a success?

PK, first time here…
remove some of the armed forces serving as security for the politicians and use them to serve the state and for the people and then the babus and netas will know what security really means…
i accept that the governments protectiion of people is far from saying its good… but if u look at it very practically, how many places can the govt. provide protection… if u think conferences, meetings, malls are the only places u need to, then sooner or later we will be proved wrong… schools, residential places etc., have equal values too… and what abt. people leaveing in the sub-urban and rural areas??…the list is endless…
i don’t get ur last statement of the post!!… could u elaborate… r u against the use of blogger or are you talking abt. being arm-chair pundits or are you talking abt. we being the majority community (which i disagree!)…

@naikutti
Welcome here.
when i mean protecting the citizens, i am not talking abt putting the security forces all over the place. what the hell, they will be shot down too.
i think the govt. have been far too lenient on some terrorist sympathisers in India. they r scared to ruffle some minority feathers and losing out on their votes…
And same has to be said with the soft-go approach across the border.
Whether Human rights activists shout or not, its the security forces’ main responsibility to maintain law and order with minimum injustice.
And regarding my last line, i felt we r(including me of course) more conerned about our inner divisions hardly realising the danger that awaits us.

PK you are spot on.
Its the shame in India people will get away with anything.
The future is not good, most trouble is going to come for Maoist,naxals i read it some where that their arm power is so much they are ready to take on our army (scary one)
God save our country

Dear Prabu Karthik,
Nice post. May I add that this is not about right wing or left wing. This is about protecting lives of all our citizens. However, we cannot put in security in every soft target even if we remove Z+ security for our politicians. Ultimately, we have to confront terror from where it emnates viz. Pakistan and their new lapdog Bangaldesh.

First - Not sure why everything is blamed from across the border.!!
Are we certain here that it is the work of a foreign group.!! IMHO, let’s wait and see.!
PK - Do you feel that the bus services etc..increase the possiblities of terror attacks? I don’t think so. I am for more buses/trains..infact no borders.!!

@ganesh
a lot of things can be traced to the extra leniency shown.

@cynical
am not advocating putting the security in every street corner.
there is something called being proactive.
our govtmts dont act fearing backlash in the elections.

@narayanan sir
let me give u an example…
Do u have any idea about coimbatore in 97-98?
who was ruling the state in 97-98?
how come things r better now?
A *lot* depends on the policies of the govt in charge.
And am not for trains or buses to Pakistan. its just one rogue nation. i am never comfortable when our Indian cricket team tours pakistan.
There are lakhs and lakhs of illegal immigrants pouring into and already into India from Bangladesh and other places.
Fundamentalist agenda are at best insane. there is no point in having an open border and engaging in peace talks.
we just dont learn our lesson - since our partition days to now.
Time and again our BSF ppl have been lured and trapped and taken into bangaladesh and killed.
what does our govt do?
keep mum. engage in talks.
Go and shake hands and then all is forgotten.
the tragedy is, we r instrumental in the creation of independent bangladesh.
