Shiva,

I had already read that and dont want to comment on that.
What you call as insight may or may not be so insightful for me. That does not prevent you from calling it as having some insights....thats your opinion. I do have the same rights and privileges.

I am not asusming anything here and I write what I feel is appropriate.

I express the same way you readers express your opinions in the comments section and i do not see anything wrong there.

Maybe there should be a legislation so that nobody has the right to criticize a start or mega star or a mega director..... defamation (you can use that whenever you want too).

You may get a certain amount of insights about this rajini mania created by the maniacs(your words) ... what could be the reason behind this? culture, context, socio-political implications, fantasy ... blah blah ... wht the hell? why should we analyze all these things prabhu .. these ppl r just plain maniacs, arent they?
We are self-assumed intellectuals and this is how we write blogs ... according to us, everybody should hv the same preferences and inclinations towards things ...

Anyway this is your personal opinion .. freedom of expression(there is no proper defn for this term .. so we can use it wherever we want) ...

jaiganesh,

i used to live in MPM street :). i went to this movie bcos my manager was gung ho abt this movie and even took the trouble of buying tickets for all of us in that theatre...

I am not sure if its a lost cause yet, no matter what you hype about, at the end of the day the movie watcher has to watch the film and coffers should fill!

Hi Prabhu!
You live in Perambur?
I used to live in Periyar Nagar.
BTW, since when did Rajini movies started getting watched for "Story" and screenplay? So if you went looking for one , I must say that fault lies with you. In fact as to the question of entertainment, Rajini movies defy every rule for entertainment. The whole circus is an excuse to see Rajini doing various antics. If fans liked it, they cannot be blamed. It is the fault of neutral film lovers who joined this mania to hype this movie to what it is not. In fact Rajini himself was shocked to see the hype that was generated by the media and mentioned this in the interview to Times now. AVM played the masterstroke with distribution and marketing by corporatizing the whole process, due to which Sivaji Cluster bombs were carpeted all over the world to a "Happy Harvest". Notions and views of film critics was replaced by "reactions" and "experiences" of fans, confessed and otherwise. Thus critiques on the movie never got the bandwidth or attention. Any efforts to constructively deconstruct the movie and review it would be only perceived as a sadistic move by a "head weight" film critic. In fact Chandramukhi and Baba were reviewed first, but over here the movie was proclaimed a hit by the media and then showed to the public. The combination of hype and craze generated was enough to make it the biggest hit. Now it is too late for critics to make any dent in the popular image of the movie. Any which ways it is a lost cause for average film watcher as he now simply joins the flow and gets "aiykiyam" in the Sivaji Jothee . thee thee Jaga jothee jothee jothee!!

Regards,
Jaiganesh

Courageous review. I haven't watched the movie. But the description fits some of his previous movies, so I am not surprised it fits this one too.

Initial responses said this was a good movie and all ? ellam poyya ?
