Depends on the signals in the way. 2 trains from bangalore reach the station at the same time. Atleast, they give the right timings (I suppose as I have not travelled in cheran express)

Actually the Cheran never reaches Perambur (in all the instances i’ve traveled in it) by 5.35. The earliest is 5.55. The SR is using this as a buffer.

Enna signal irundhaalum 1 hour aagakoodadhu.. heck i can cover that distance by walking in an hour.

And assuming it takes 1 hour… it is reflecting a problem and the best way to solve this problem is by addressing the root cause.

Why all the trains should necessarily go to Central?
IMHO the Chennai beach is well connected to other suburban lines.
What i say may not be applicable for Cheran.. but surely some trains which originate and terminate at Central can be moved to Beach.
That will perhaps address the signal problem that we are talking about.

This is not the way to maintain right timings :)

I always get down at perambur for these reasons:
    1) u save 20 minutes minimum in the train
    2) u save another 10-15 minutes in the walk from your coach to the subway across central.

The above mentioned is the least savings.

Alternatively you can climb down the train to the roads in perambur.
Buses are avlble in plenty.. At the very least u can just take a bus to koyambedu and go wherever u want from there….

But even chennai localites let alone ppl new to the city, are too fascinated by central to decide this way i guess :) apdi enna dhaan irukko therilai..

Perambur is one station I love to get down when I travel by train to Chennai from B’lore. The cost to take an auto is 150 rupees (minimum) from Central to my house (Annanagar) anytime you go. But, you get down at Perambur, its 90 rupees anytime (atleast early in the morning). This option comes cheaper :)

90 bucks is too expensive IMHO. I remember going for 40 bucks sometime back. maybe 60-70 should work…
i’ve come from perambur to velachery(22km) for 140 Rs. bfore petrol price hike :)

In my school days, in physics, I read abt “Magentic levitating” trains which will run at 540 Kmph and was happy that in another 3 to 4 years by then, we will have such trains. So u know how extremely happy I wud feel cing all this now.

    540 kmph… I will reach Hyd to Coimbatore within 3 hrs… sigh…

PK… Its all buffer time… No one can define why it is like this… there are so many trains that have this buffer between PER and MAS.
