Exciting times
Flash News: Appada…I am a married man at last :D. Earlier I thought I can chronicle my marriage trials and tribulations in a blog series. Now I think I need a book project :). Anyway all is well that ends well. And I think I’ve got a person whose temperament fits mine to a T. Special thanks to NV sir’s parents for making it to the wedding and blessing us.
Another thing that got me excited was the pristine pure Radha Nagar beach, Havelock Island, Andaman. It’s truly one of the cleanest and the most beautiful of beaches in India. And nah, Goa and Kerala do not even come close in my opinion. Special thanks to Anthony Amalraj – my travel agent. Anthony runs Silverline Global Tours, Chennai. He is one guy I can boldly recommend to anyone. I have traveled to various places in his arrangement and we have always been very satisfied.
I also got a masterpiece book called ‘Seeking Wisdom’ by Peter Bevelin. And as is always the case with any book lover, a good book always gets me totally excited.
Last but not the least, came across a service called Spokn, by an Indian software company which takes on Skype and Google voice in its own inimitable way. Good to see an Indian tech company which knows a bit more than the ‘cost arbitrage’ pallavi.
The wedding ceremony, the new phase of life, a new book, a new stock I discovered, a new place I traveled… ah life is exciting indeed.
Hopefully I will blog more often in the days to come ![]()

Re- your wedding - You didn’t mention if it was an arranged or otherwise. Either way, sincere wishes for plenty of happier times in the next phase.
Re- spokn - More than Skype and Google, I think their competition is companies such as RebTel (www.rebtel.com) and LocalPhone.com.
Notice how they have local access numbers for even Pakistan, but not India. Same with Rebtel, and this is from their FaceBook post:
“It’s difficult to say when India will become a Rebtel Country. The main problem lies in Indian VoIP regulations, which are very strict. There have been services in the past that have offered local numbers in India, but they were shut down by Indian authorities.”
Any thoughts on why the government is paranoid about VoIP in India?

Congratulations !
Now, may the henpecking jokes begin.
For starters, may you be dealt with sternly for clubbing the mention of marriage with other sundries in these post.

All,
Thank you for the wishes
Ram,
Thanks for the link. I did see Rebtel and LocalPhone. I can understand therese are similiar offerings from competitors. Hmm.. nelamaya partha, more than these guys making money, they will burn the fingers of telecom companies nu mattum theliva theriyudhu…
Namba govt. is a bit slow to open up in almost all matters… unless like half the nation adopts this, they will choose to ignore this segment..
Only that fortuitously this slowness worked to our advantage in opening up our banking, financial services with abandon
Geodesic… seems pretty decent for an Indian company… they generate about 800 crores with 450 employees.. not bad in my view..
Compares very favorably even with service providers like Infy….whhat do you think?
November 27th, 2009 at 12:53 am
BNB
Yeah i think they are quite different. They generate decent operating margins..unlike services companies.. do check out and let me know…
