PK, also please watch Despicable Me.

And believe it or not.. logic or illogic... im a fan of Avatar, after seeing it for six or seven times... and i dont believe i hated it the first time. I neglected the story initially... overseeing some details.. Now, I find it to be well authored.. well spun.. too detailed.. of course, the outline looks very simple on the lines of a tamil cinema story..

BTW, I watched Salt, last saturday.. bayangara "poo suthal" action. But very perfect in it. Very very captivating.

BNB,

Thank you
>I found the lengthy dream states correspond to very little time in the parent state, idea fascinating,

I totally agree.... also, the kind of confidence this guy exudes in telling a concept like this on screen is what I found most impressive...

yeah oru code cooliengara murai la sathyam la padam parpom :D

Keerthi,

I loved 'prestige'. That was my first Nolan film - not 'Memento'...

'Avatar' - if i find a film boring the first time, it's hard for me to watch that six times to find the more interesting things in that movie.. this logic is not very different from 'thirumba thirumba kaetta indha song pidikkum' logic :)

Karthigeyan,

Yes, it takes tremendous amount of hard work to make even a crappy movie, but that does not mean our folks should be happy doing 'sumaar' stuff when they can very well do better. I do not question the ability of kamal...Shankar is a different animal imho...Mani himself has become too business man like...

The kind of compromise these guys make, and the kind of statements they dish out to avoid issues and to promote their own movies is disappointing to say the least.

Oru padathuku 6 songs vache aaganum nu enna kattayam? but all the guys you mentioned place 6 songs, just so that music rights means more money...

In btw, the same ravanan epic was admired by NYTimes columnist! that should bring cheers to us!

Thavamai thavamirundhu paartha padam.. I liked it. I am still digesting the movie. There are some fundamental questions about the film.. but i will clear them out, when i watch it again.

By the way, the first time i watched Avatar, i didnt like it. Now, 7 times down, im beginning to admire a lot of things in that movie.

And by the by the way, Have you seen Prestige

Agreed. The next day everyone was discussing the movie wunly at work and everyone agreed that this needed to be watched one more time. At the risk of sounding like the "India Shining" crowd, I have to say this sounds like Advaitam in places. I am not saying he drew inspiration, it's just that the parallels are so striking, esp as expressed through some of the powerful, but simple dialogue. Idha edukka oru producer, oru mega star ellarumey ready anga. Check out the wikipedia page for the movie - some interesting titbits. I found the lengthy dream states correspond to very little time in the parent state, idea fascinating, especially since we can easily relate to that - during brief afternoon naps, we sometimes dream very elaborately, and these dreams exceed the duration of that short nap.

To get back to the parallels, The 'I' (as in the 'I am the body' idea) rises projects the world and then takes part in this mayai. Day dreaming / dreaming are also similar. In all states a first person (I am the body) is needed to observe the 2nd and 3rd persons (avan, adhu, ulagam etc). ok now we are wandering into sankarar, ramanar territory - oru code coolie'ngara muraila idhoda stoppu :-)
